
Roslund Elementary-Title I Reading Program
The Title I Reading Program at Roslund Elementary is available to help students who are experiencing difficulty learning to read. The Title I Program uses a balanced approach to teaching reading with equal emphasis on Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Comprehension, Vocabulary, and Fluency. Our program offers a continuum of services based on the needs of each student. Our Reading Assistant, Mrs. Cathy Franko, is in charge of a Homework Help program that is available for a half hour each morning in Room 26. Students needing extra help studying for tests or completing homework assignments are welcome to go to Homework Help as needed. Mrs. Franko also provides additional support in the classroom during Kidwriting instruction. Our Reading Specialists are Mrs. Lynne La France and Mrs. Kathi Kohut. They each provide small group instruction in reading and writing. We have just implemented the Scott Foresman Early Intervention Program and the Scott Foresman My Sidewalks Reading Program, for students who require intensive reading intervention.
