Beginning with the current school year, Tunkhannock Area High School is proud to initiate a Student of the Month Program. Students may be nominated by teachers at the end of each month for selection in a number of different school categories. A short nomination form will allow for a brief explanation of why the student was nominated. A committee will review nominees and make monthly selections. Students will receive certificates as well as recognition within the school and the community.

Student of the Month Criteria

1. Students should be nominated on the basis of exceptional performance, talent, effort, attitude, or any other manner of distinction related to the Student of the Month categories.

2. Students may be nominated in the following categories:

• Academics-Includes all graded subject areas and courses other than those specified in other categories.
• Arts-Includes the visual, performing/stage, and musical arts.
• Activities and Athletics-Includes all school clubs and activities.
• Technology-Includes all technical education and Career and Technology Education (CTE) approved programs of study.
• Citizenship-Refers to demonstrated contributions to the school and community.

3. Selection Process:

A Student of the Month Selection Committee will review the nominations submitted each month and, by majority vote, will determine the winners. The committee can select multiple winners for each category, or may decide no winners are appropriate for a specific category. Students will be eligible for selection in a category only once per school year. They may, however, be nominated and selected for different categories throughout the year. Students may not be selected Student of the Month for more than one category in any given month of the school year.
