Kids Do Care...
At Evans Falls Elementary School, students are provided numerous opportunities
in a variety of settings to experience academic, social, emotional, and
physical growth. Developmentally appropriate opportunities begin for kindergarten
students so that readiness is provided for the academic subjects of reading,
math and writing. Subjects are reading, language arts, math, science, social
studies, English, and handwriting. Specialists teach art, music, physical
education, library and technology education.
Students are introduced to reading using a variety of methods. Phonics
and whole word instruction are provided through good, quality literature
that is supported by a basal program. The use of reading material beyond
the basal program is emphasized throughout grades one through four. The
students are involved with the Accelerated Reading Program that encourages
independent reading. Writing in sentence and/or paragraph form is utilized
daily.
Math instruction is characterized by use of meaningful repetition and
the use of manipulatives to build student knowledge of math concepts.
An active PTA meets regularly. This group provides funds for special
programs and field trips.
Other opportunities for additional instruction are available to the students,
